Welcome to Shining Light Preschool

Franklin Christian Church’s Shining Light Preschool connects children and their families to Jesus through nurturing their spiritual, developmental, and educational growth. The preschool’s ultimate goal is to prepare all students for kindergarten by exposing them to the necessary skills needed: sensory development activities, social play, beginning phonics, early writing skills, music, art, and beginning science and math.

Program Options

Shining Light Preschool has two program options for each school year: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Students may only enroll in one of these options. We do not offer more than two days a week.

Each program operates from 9:15 am – 2:15 pm on the designated day.

Shining Light follows the Williamson County Schools schedule for holidays and weather-related closings.

Walkers

Children in the Walker class are expected to use a sippy cup and to be able to eat finger foods. They will take one nap during the school day from 12:00-1:45 pm.  Children are expected to be on our nap schedule to help with the transition to school. They will need a tri-fold nap mat for nap time, but may also bring a blanket, stuffed animal, or pacifier to help with the adjustment. Parents must send diapers, a sippy cup, lunch, and a nap mat. Shining Light will provide snacks, wipes, and a tote bag for belongings.

Toddler 1  – Children will nap each day from 12:00-1:45 pm. Parents must send diapers, a water bottle, lunch, and a tri-fold nap mat. Shining Light will provide snacks, wipes, and a tote bag for belongings.

Toddler 2  – Parents are encouraged to work on potty training during the school year and this will be reinforced in the classroom. Children will nap each day from 12:30-1:45 pm. Parents must send diapers/pull-ups, a water bottle, lunch, and a tri-fold nap mat. Shining Light will provide snacks, wipes, and a tote bag for belongings.

Preschool  – Children must be potty-trained by the start of the school year. This class does not nap. They will be working on letters, numbers, shapes, and color recognition. Students will also learn how to write their name and cut with scissors. Parents must send a water bottle, lunch, and change of clothes. Shining Light will provide snacks and a tote bag for belongings.

Pre-K  – Children will build on concepts learned in the preschool class. They will also work on various other skills needed for kindergarten including completing tasks independently. Parents must send a water bottle, lunch, and change of clothes. Shining Light will provide snacks and a tote bag for belongings.

Specials – Shining Light Specials include Chapel, Music, and Dance. Toddler 1 through Pre-K will participate in Specials each week. All classes have playground time and go out each day weather permitting.
