Mental Health Sermon 2: Three Lies Satan Tells Us

As Christians, we believe there is not an area of our lives that is not spiritual–that every area of our lives has spiritual meaning, purpose, and consequences.
At the same time, not everything in our lives is exclusively spiritual. There are other factors at play in our lives–situational, biological, clinical, etc.

As we continue to discuss mental health and the Bible in this Let’s Talk About It series, we need to understand that we believe Satan will attack not only the spiritual parts of our lives, but every part of our lives in order to bring us down. One of the main ways he will attack us is telling us lies.

As we talk about mental health, we need to be prepared for these lies so we can combat them with the truth of God’s Word. You are known. You are loved. You are a son or daughter of God.

Supporting Scripture

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.  John 10:10

He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.  John 8:44

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full wellPsalm 139:13-14

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39
