Still Proceeding

Matthew 1:23, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us’).

Often when we read the Christmas story we seem to act as if God only entered into the human equation 2,000 years ago. Yes, Jesus did step down off His thrown and enter into our world, but he was active long before that, and will be long after he went back into heaven. There is a thread that runs through all of history leading to and from the coming of Jesus. Jesus’ 33-year stint on earth is not an isolated event. Jesus was “here in the beginning” (John 1) and will “surely be with you always” (Matthew 28). This series will paint the picture that Jesus is still and has always been active in history. He is still proceeding. He is still moving. The lyric Westward leading still proceeding, guide us to Thy perfect light will shape the direction of the series. Jesus is moving. As followers of Jesus we need to move towards Jesus because that is where His perfect light will pave the way. Not only were the Magi searching for Jesus, but so are we.
