Loss brings grief. Grief is the emotion we experience whenever we lose something valuable to us; people, possessions, position. We grieve when we lose a loved one, a marriage, a job, our health. We grieve when we move from 1 city to another, leaving behind memories & relationships. Parents grieve when a child heads down a wrong path. Couples grieve who want to have children, but have been unable to do so. Some people sincerely believe Christians aren’t supposed to grieve. They consider grieving a sign of spiritual weakness. But the Bible never says that. Paul wrote Christians shouldn’t “…grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” (1Thess 4:13) but he doesn’t tell us not to grieve.
