Only one human in the Bible is said to be “a man after God’s own heart.” It wasn’t Abraham, Moses, or any of the apostles. It was a shepherd boy that grew up to sit on a throne. King David passionately sought a personal relationship with his Heavenly Father, but along the way he enjoyed great victories and humiliating defeats. He fought giants, exchanged lies that cost innocent lives, and endured the death of children. If you have ever made mistakes in marriage, parenting and living for God, you can relate to David. By studying his life, we will learn much about ourselves and what it takes to pursue the heart of God.
